The exciting final qualification opportunity for the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Championship at HOYS featured on Sunday at the British Showjumping National Championships. Providing junior riders with their chance to achieve a coveted HOYS ticket.
Krissy Spiller’s 12 fence, 1.10 first round track saw 5 clears to progress to the next round. With no clear rounds in the jump-off, the competition came down to a race against the clock. Sienna Palin and her six-year-old pony, Mikado Van Den Dael, continued their winning streak by securing the title, following their victory in the I.C.E Horseboxes Pony Silver League 148cm & Under class on Saturday.
Stopping the clock at 37.83 seconds, Sienna took the win, meaning second place for Eveline Roberts and Krakboom D’Euro who finished in a time of 39.78 seconds. Third place went to India Vilarrubi and Elka Maura Flint.
Reflecting on her success, Sienna shared, "He was really good—I knew I had to push him, but he covers the ground so well, and I trust him completely."
Speaking affectionately about her pony, ‘Simba,’ Sienna added, "I have a lot of trust in him; he's one in a million. I'm very lucky—my Grandad got him for me. We've had him since he was four, and I've produced him to where he is now."
All eyes now turn to the final, where riders will compete for the coveted title of Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Champion. For a full list of qualified riders, visit the British Showjumping website.
