The second of the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Rounds took place on Saturday during the Pony Premier Show at South View Equestrian Centre in Winsford, Cheshire and it was Jodie Burchmore-Eames who clinched the win.
With a starting field of 97 and only 4 qualifying tickets for this year’s Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Championship Final at Horse of the Year Show that will take place in October, many riders felt the pressure and only ten combinations went through to the final jump-off.
16 year-old Jodie from Northchurch, Hertfordshire piloted Jack Eames’ 7 year-old Mighty Mouse W Van De Dauwhoeve, with whom she won the Pony of the Year Show JC Grand Prix Final last month, to victory in 43.54 seconds. Jodie finished ahead of Shaunie Greig and Alison McDonald’s 9 year-old Teagan Arla Rose who finished in 43.78 seconds. Anoushka Mauree took third place with Rosalind Platt’s Giblins whilst Patrick Thurston and Kate Thurston’s Dromore Hill Foxtrot took the final qualifying ticket.
The top 4 combinations secured their place in the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Championship Final at Horse of the Year Show and the top eight took home the chance to compete in the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Masters at the British Showjumping National Championships.
